2 What is SilkAir's policy for the carriage of expectant mothers?
If you are an expectant mother, please inform your doctor of your intended travel plans and obtain medical advice before making any flight reservations. For uncomplicated single pregnancies, SilkAir prohibits expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 35th week of pregnancy. For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, for example if you are carrying twins, SilkAir prohibits expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 32nd week of pregnancy. Acceptance of expectant mothers with complicated pregnancies, who wish to travel will be considered on an individual basis.

Prior to travelling, expectant mothers are required to obtain a medical certificate of fitness for travel issued by your gynaecologist, stating the number of weeks of your pregnancy and Estimated Date of Delivery. If your booking and departure dates are more than one month apart, a new certificate should be issued by your gynaecologist, not more than 3 days before departure. This certificate must be presented at check-in when requested.

3 Does SilkAir accept Certified Guide Dogs for Blind, Deaf or Disabled Passengers in the passenger cabin?
Yes, a guide dog accompanying its owner can be accepted in the passenger cabin in any class.

However, as only one guide dog can be uplifted per flight, you are advised to contact your local SilkAir Town Office in advance of your flight to make the necessary arrangements. If your itinerary involves other carriers, separate clearance must be obtained from those carriers prior to travel. You must ensure that all government regulations and documentation requirements for the uplift, transit, and disembarkation stations are complied with.

The guide dog is regarded as unchecked baggage and will be carried without charge, in addition to the passenger’s free baggage allowance. The dog will not be occupying a seat and must not be seated in a location that would block escape routes in the event of an emergency. Moisture absorbent material will be placed on the cabin floor, underneath the dog at all times. Please note the supply of the mats is to be arranged by the passenger. The dog must be muzzled and harnessed during the flight.
