What is an infant fare?
Infant fares are applicable to infants under 2 years old at the time of travel. The fares are charged at 15% of our Y class fare (for Economy class) and 10% of our C class fare (for Business class)*. For details on infant fares, please click here.
Please note an infant does not occupy a seat.
For purchase of infant ticket originating from SilkAir destinations except Singapore, please contact our respective Overseas Town Offices directly.
*This applies to all SilkAir flights, except for flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur/Penang where 10% of the prevailing adult published fare applies. Please note that published fares are not entitled to any discounts. |

Can I make booking with infants on silkair.com?
Currently, online bookings for infants (aged below 2 years) are not available on this website due to special servicing needs. Passengers travelling with infants are advised to make the adult booking first through silkair.com. Upon completion of the adult booking, please contact our ticketing hotline at 6223 8888 to purchase the infant ticket. Alternatively, you may write in to us under the "Feedback & Enquiry" section. |

How to make infant booking?
All infant bookings to Electronic Ticketing destinations, can be made through one of the following options:
1) Writing in at our Website's Feedback and Enquiries page, including the following in your message:
a) passenger’s passport name (please indicate last name), gender & date of birth
b) the booking reference of the adult booking which can be done through the Internet
c) intended itinerary,
d) credit card details for the payment.
2) Contact SilkAir's Ticketing Hotline, (65) 6223 8888 (24 Hours)
3) Direct purchase from SilkAir's Sales Office at 371, Keypoint, #17-08, Beach Road (nearest MRT station - Lavender)
4) Purchase from SilkAir's authorised agents, in which case an additional service fee might be levied by the agents.
5) For purchase of infant ticket originating from SilkAir destinations except Singapore, please contact our respective Overseas Town Offices directly. |

Will Infants get a Bassinet?
Bassinets confirmation is on a first come first served basis, based on the booking creation date. In the event where bassinets are not available, you will have to travel with infants on your lap. |

What is the maximum number of Infants that can be booked online?
Each infant must travel with a separate adult. Hence number of infant travelers cannot be more than the adult travelers. Infants are not permitted to travel with unaccompanied minors, minors, and children. If you are a single adult passenger who is traveling with more than one infant, then please contact your local SilkAir Reservation Office for booking assistance. |

How can I request a meal for my infant?
An infant's meal can be requested for baby between 1 to 2. Please contact any SilkAir office for assistance. You can find the contact details on the Contact Us page of this website.
There are 2 types of infant meals:
Baby Meal: Suitable for infants less than 1 year old; 1 jar each of main course, vegetables, and dessert.
Post-weaning Meal: Suitable for infants between 1 and 2 years old; more substantial than Baby Meal; easy to bite, chew and digestible.
All above Infant Meals must be passenger-related to adult name. Please inform the airline of meal requirement at least 5 days before your departure. |

What is a child fare?
This is a special fare that applies to children between the ages of 2 through 11 on the date of departure. Hence a booking made before a child's 12th birthday for departure on or after this day will no longer be eligible for the child fares. In most cases, children are usually charged a percentage of the applicable adult fare or same as adult fare subjected to the fare condition. |

How can I request a meal for my child?
Child meal can be requested for children aged 2 to 7 onboard. The meal is less substantial than adult meal; easy to bite/chew with items attractive to children.
For children aged 8-11, please contact any SilkAir office for assistance. You can find the contact details on the Contact Us page of this website. Special meal can be requested for children aged 8-11. |

Are seat booster or infant car seats allowed?
The use of booster seats is not permitted. However, you can use approved car-type child seats and FAA-approved child harness.
Approved car-type child seats may be used for a child under 3 years but not less than 6 months of age. The seat must be forward-facing and can be secured to the aircraft passenger seat by means of the aircraft safety belt. It must also be approved by a foreign airworthiness authority / government standards:
- United Kingdom (UK) Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States of America as meeting the Technical Standard Order TSO-C100b; or seats that have two markings: "This Restraint is Certified for Use in Motor Vehicles and Aircraft" in red lettering and "This seat conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)"
- European Safety Standard requirements of United Nations ECE Regulation 44 (UN/ECE 44)
- Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) No. 213 entitled "Child Restraint Systems" or CMVSS No. 213.1 entitled "Infant Seating and Restraint Systems"
- Australian/New Zealand design standard AS/NZS 1754 for infant car seats.

If you are using a child car seat or a child harness, please note that the manufacturing standards and instructions must be provided to our ground staff and cabin crew for reference. The use of child car seat and child harness on board is subject to all child seat safety requirements. The child car seat /child harness will be installed on window seats except at the emergency exit rows as well as the rows immediately before and after it. The adult accompanying the child shall be seated next to the child car seat/child harness. |
