Visit fertility temple Candi Sukuh, the only one of its kind and similar to a Mayan structure. Head for the cool air at the resorts of Tawangmangu and Sarangan Lake, and visit the daunting volcano, Mount Merapi. At the Radya Pustaka Museum, discover the gamelan instrument, and the jewelled keris – the personal sacred weapon famous as an heirloom for the Javanese. Visit the largest and most sacred mosque in Solo, Mesjid Agung (Grand Mosque), but do make sure you dress respectfully.
