Best time to go Palembang is a year-round destination, but if you want to be part of some action, August is when it celebrates the country’s Independence Day. An annual event is the Bidar Race held around Independence Day, with competing boats measuring 24m long and only 0.75 m wide and each carrying as many as 50 oarsmen. Travel in the wet season to less developed areas can be difficult
