Birthplace of China’s hotpot cuisine, Chongqing’s peppery soups are a must. Pick from numerous stalls along Wuyi Lu, known as Huoguo Jie or Hotpot Street. Savour authentic Sichuan cuisine, Zhang tea cooked duck or steamed carp at Haochi Jie (Delicious Street). Chongqing is known for its local handicrafts, such as delicate Chongqing porcelain and lacquerware, Shu (Sichuan) embroidery, folding fans from Rongchang, bamboo woven curtains from Liangping and rare amethyst ink slabs from the Three Gorges.
