SILKAIR NAMES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Mr Marvin Tan will be appointed Chief Executive of SilkAir with effect from 11 October 2010. He will be taking over from Mr Chin Yau Seng, who will return to Singapore Airlines as Divisional Vice President Cabin Crew Operations.
Mr Tan, 39, joined SilkAir as a Board Director on 1 June 2010 and is currently Divisional Vice President Customer Services for Singapore Airlines. He has been with Singapore Airlines for over 14 years and has held various positions in head office and overseas. Previous postings include Vice President Ground Services, General Manager UK & Ireland and General Manager Vietnam.
SilkAir Chairman Mr Goh Choon Phong thanked Mr Chin for his dedication and efforts in making SilkAir one of the leading regional carriers in Asia.
“In the past three and a half years as Chief Executive, Yau Seng has worked tirelessly to grow and strengthen SilkAir's operations in this region and kept the airline profitable even during the recent economic downturn,” said Mr Goh.
"Marvin is already a member of the SilkAir family and I am delighted to welcome him in his new role as Chief Executive. I am sure he will continue to take SilkAir to new heights.”
