How can I buy Travel Insurance by Chartis?
You can only purchase travel insurance on silkair.com for Singapore-originating flights. Simply add travel insurance to your itinerary while you’re booking your flights online.
Who can buy Travel Insurance by Chartis?
Travel insurance is available to ALL passengers who are flying out of Singapore for trips no longer than 180 days.
I'm only travelling one-way on SilkAir. Will I be able to purchase travel insurance?
Yes, you can. One-way flights will be considered as a day-trip and you will be able to enjoy all benefits while you are in transit.
How can I be eligible for the discounted travelling party rates?
If your travelling party consists of 2 adults and at least one child (unlimited number, age as defined by SilkAir) you are eligible to receive discounted rates for your travelling party. If more than 2 adults are in the itinerary, your insurance policy will be rated on an individual basis.

When does coverage begin and end?
If you are travelling one-way, your coverage begins upon check-in for your departure flight from Singapore and ends upon your arrival to your SilkAir flight’s country of destination.
If you are travelling round-trip, your coverage begins upon check-in for your departure flight from Singapore and ends upon the arrival of your return flight to Singapore.
If you are travelling on a multi-segment itinerary, your coverage begins upon check-in for your departure flight from Singapore and ends upon the arrival of your return flight to your last country of destination.
The Travel Cancellation benefit begins 30 days prior to your departure.
If I get sick during my trip, will I be covered for hospital and other related expenses?
Yes! You'll be covered for sickness-related medical expenses while you are overseas. To learn more about your medical expense benefit, please view the full terms and conditions of your policy.
Can I continue my medical treatment after I return to Singapore?
Yes, you can. If prior medical treatment has been sought overseas, you can continue medical treatment in Singapore upon your return - up to the limit specified in the policy or up to thirty (30) days whichever is earlier.
Can I add travel insurance to my itinerary if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
Yes. You can add travel insurance to your itinerary even if you have a pre-existing condition. However, some benefits will not cover these pre-existing medical conditions. For more details, please view the full terms and conditions of your policy.
Can I cancel my SilkAir flight booking for any reason and get a
full refund of my air fare because of the Trip Cancellation Benefit in my policy?
Your policy's Trip Cancellation Benefit only covers the non-refundable portion of your SilkAir fare when you cancel your flight booking due to valid insurable reasons such as serious sickness or death in your family that would prohibit you from continuing with your trip. What should I do if I did not receive my Insurance Confirmation?
Don’t worry! You don’t need to bring a copy of your Insurance Confirmation on your trip. All you need is your Policy
Number and our 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Number +65 6733 2552.

The details of my SilkAir flight booking have changed. How should I go about changing the details of my travel insurance policy?
If you would like to make changes to your policy, please or call our Customer Service Hotline at +65 6735 9339.
Please note that changes to your policy will only be entertained if there were changes made to your SilkAir flight booking.

Before Departing from Singapore
You can make changes to your policy in conjunction with any changes you make on your SilkAir flight booking before you depart from Singapore.

After Departing from Singapore
You’ll be able to extend your policy even after you’ve left Singapore. All other changes to
your policy are prohibited.

Can I cancel my travel insurance policy and receive a refund?
Yes, you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund if the policy cancellation is (a) done in conjunction with the cancellation of your SilkAir flight booking; and (b) requested prior to your departure date.

What should I do if I fall ill or get into an accident abroad?
Simply call our 24-hour Emergency Assistance hotline (+65 6733 2552) and we will ensure that you get the necessary assistance. Please don’t forget that you can call the hotline collect to avoid any charges.
If you require hospital treatment, please make sure you keep original copies of your receipts when you return to Singapore to ensure easy processing of your refund.
How do I file for a claim?
To file a claim, you can download the Notice of Claim Form online and follow the simple instructions included in the document. For questions about your claim, you can always e-mail us or call our Customer Service Hotline at +65 6735 9339.
Is there a cut off time for filing my claims?
Yes, you have to notify us of your claim no later than 30 days after the occurrence of the claimable event.
How long does it take to process my claims?
We will process your claims within twelve (12) working days following the receipt of all necessary documents.
