SilkAir takes every step to ensure that your child is safe when travelling alone. Throughout the journey - from check-in for the flight, to arrival at the final destination - your child is always under someone's care. This service is offered to our young passengers from the age of 5 to the day before their 18th years of age, if an adult aged 18 years and above is not travelling with them on the same flight and cabin class. Children under the age of 5 are not allowed to travel alone.
How to apply for this Service?
The service is mandatory for unaccompanied children aged 5 and under 12 years. Please be advised that if your child requires the service, you will not be able to make the booking through our website.
Once you have booked the flight(s) through your local SilkAir office or travel agent, simply download and complete the "UM Handling form" and contact your local SilkAir office to let us know that your child requires the service. We will then make the necessary arrangements that will ensure that your child is looked after in the best possible way. If your child is travelling on a flight operated by other airlines, please contact the airline directly to find out about their policies for children travelling unaccompanied.
Additional charges may apply for passengers aged 12 to under 18 who require the UM handling service.
SilkAir reserves the right to deny boarding if there are any discrepancies in the information provided, or the relevant forms are not produced at check-in. Please contact your local SilkAir office if such UM handling service is required.
What if I do not need this service for my child?
If your child is aged 12 to under 18 years, you can choose to waive the Unaccompanied Minor service. You can make the flight booking for your child via our website, your local SilkAir office or your travel agent.
Once the flight booking has been made, simply download and complete the "UM Assistance and Handling Waiver form" and contact your local SilkAir office to let us know that you do not require the service for your child. We will then take note of this in the booking details and let you know the procedures.
